The first thing I did this morning was tell my mom and grandmother how much I admire them for leading by example of what it means to be phenomenal women. I then proceeded to spend a good chunk of time trying to find a decently presentable photo to share of them from the limited ones we have together. I know, validating your relationships through social media, first world problems, blah blah blah, I get it.

But, in the entire process of sifting through images that reminded me of hard times and happy times alike, I stumbled upon other photos and became reminded of all the absolutely amazing women I have been blessed to call family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances. From the women in my every day life to the Nonna that we ran into a few minutes after taking this picture, and who blew us a kiss and yelled out “belissimo!” as she walked by, I am only reminded that we are our first source of empowerment. Women who build each other up, rather than tear each other down. We are warriors, freedom fighters and forces to be reckoned with. Happy International Women’s Day from only a mere smidgen of the most remarkable women I know. ✊🏽
